Two “Separation Suites”. These are self-contained dog rooms with access to outdoor runs. These suites don’t get used often, but they’re great to have when we need them. In the past, we’ve used them to Board dogs that have just had surgery (ACL or spay/neuter) and cannot be running and playing with their friends in Daycare. Or, in the event that a Boarding dog catches kennel cough and cannot go home early, we will use these rooms to separate them from the pack to prevent spreading.
Upsides of Daycare
Unlike a dog park, all Dog Patch dog’s have had their temperament evaluated prior to coming to play. This ensures we have a safe and well-balanced pack, which cannot always be guaranteed at a dog park.
The dogs are constantly monitored while they’re here
Mental stimulation and social contact
Your dog gets a break from their usual routine
A full day of play at The Dog Patch generally costs the same as a 1 hour dog walk/hike.
Downsides of Daycare
Dogs play with open mouths and their paws, occasional knicks and scratches can happen in a split second. Qualified staff can keep these instances to a minimum however owners should know that with any activity involving other dogs there is a chance your dog may get injured.
Risk of Kennel Cough/general illnesses.
Not every dog is well suited for large group play and may experience anxiety or become overwhelmed.
Dogs with health/mobility challenges and older dogs might find Daycare to be too much.
Dog Health
We don’t anticipate any injury or illness with your dog, however, please know should anything happen while they’re in our care, we have it covered. Our protocol is to contact you and/or your emergency contact, advise of the situation, ask what you’d like us to do and, if necessary, take your dog to the vet.
