Upsides of Group Play
Unlike a dog park, all Dog Patch dog’s have had their temperament evaluated prior to coming to play. This ensures we have a safe and well-balanced pack, which cannot always be guaranteed at a dog park.
The dogs are constantly monitored while they’re here
Mental stimulation and social contact
Your dog gets a break from their usual routine
A full day of play at The Dog Patch generally costs the same as a 1 hour dog walk/hike.
All dogs are healthy and up to date on vaccinations.
Downsides of Group Play
Dogs play with open mouths and their paws, occasional knicks and scratches can happen in a split second. Qualified staff can keep these instances to a minimum however owners should know that with any activity involving other dogs there is a chance your dog may get injured.
Risk of Canine Cough/general illnesses.
Not every dog is well suited for large group play and may experience anxiety or become overwhelmed.
Dogs with health/mobility challenges and older dogs might find Daycare to be too much.
Does your dog meet our requirements?
Vaccinations
DH2P (Distemper/Parvo) - we require this vaccination to be up-to-date. We also accept and encourage Titer Tests.
Rabies - we require that your dog has received at least one vaccination in their lifetime. Puppies do not require a Rabies vaccination until they are 1 year of age.
Puppies must have at least 2 set of puppy shots (8 weeks and 12 weeks). We recommend their second vaccination is at least 10 days prior to their Introduction Day as vaccinations need time to provide protection.
If your dog cannot meet the above requirements due to health reasons, please contact us directly.
Behaviour
All dogs coming for Daycare and Boarding must be comfortable with dog and human interaction. We understand that every dog reacts differently to new situations so we do our best to ensure your dog is given every opportunity to succeed in this type of environment. However, aggressive dogs will not be allowed as the safety of our pack is our number one priority.
Spay & Neuter
Females - We recommend spaying by 7 months old. At our discretion, some intact female dogs may attend Daycare and Boarding after 7 months, but not while in heat or pregnant.
Males - We require neutering by 7 months old.
Introduction Day
Your Dogs First Day at The Patch
An Introduction Day is your dogs first day and includes a full day of daycare. The purpose of this day is to introduce your dog to our pack, ensure that our facility is a good fit for your dog, and to determine any special needs for your dog.
Introduction Days are required for both Daycare and Boarding clients.
We ask that your dog stays a minimum of 3 hours and owners stay for the first 15-20 minutes.
We will give you a call or text part way through the day to let you know how they’re doing!
How We Introduce Your Dog
We don’t want to overwhelm your dog so we have a strict procedure around introducing new dogs to the pack.
We take all of the dogs in our care outside.
We bring your dog in and let them sniff around the Daycare play area.
We then gradually let dogs into the Daycare area to meet your dog, we do this one at a time until all dogs are happy, calm and comfortable.
Introduction Day Rates & Booking
$45 for 1 dog and $76.50 for 2 dogs. Dogs must be from the same owner to receive the discounted additional dog rate.
Introduction Day appointment times:
Monday - Friday
11:30am or 12:30pm
If you would like to view our facility prior to booking an Introduction Day, please contact us and we’d be happy to schedule you in for a tour!
Tours are available at 2pm — by appointment only.
